Edna's Bakery Cinnamon Pinwheels (Daylight-Saving Approved)
Edna of Edna’s Bakery — star witness at the daylight saving subcommittee hearing — sent this on a index card that still smelled like glaze and municipal optimism.
What landed in my mailbox
“Roll puff pastry thin, brush butter, dust cinnamon sugar heavy enough to count as testimony. Slice, pinwheel, bake till golden. Stamp with both seven and eight o’clock if you’re feeling bipartisan. Drizzle while warm — frosting is morale.”
I used store puff pastry because my rolling pin was on loan to the knitting Olympics. Chairwoman Prairie sampled four and called it “exhibit B, delicious.”
Carl’s verdict: Five stars. Faster than yeast rolls, fancier than pop-tarts. I added cream-cheese drizzle; Edna called it “a friendly amendment.”
