SlowPro Hero 12 at the Mesquite Festival Talent Hour
Carl’s rating: 8 / 10 decisive moments
SlowPro’s Hero 12 — slogan: “Capture Life at the Speed of Wow” — met Rita Roadrunner’s soft-shoe at the Mesquite Festival talent hour. I mounted it on a mic stand with a clamp that looked jury-rigged but held, like most civic infrastructure here.
The good: Stabilization turned my handheld crowd shots into something you’d actually send to Grandma. Slow-mo of detachable-train magnets — yes, that happened — justified the entire SD card. Waterproofing survived a rogue spritzer from the flower committee; no hose test, because I like this job.
The reality: Battery swaps are a sport; buy three cells or marry a power bank. Audio without external mic is “you had to be there” quality. Touch screen hates sunscreen fingers — wipe or surrender.
Verdict: If you film sports, festivals, or kids who move like Rita, Hero 12 belongs in the gear bag. If you only take stills of casserole crusts, your phone is enough and lighter.
