Goggle Pixel Dust 9 — Computational Photography vs. Real Dust

Carl’s rating: 9 / 10 megapixels (honest ones)

Goggle shipped the Pixel Dust 9 with a keynote slide of a moon so crisp it looked subpoenaed. My lab was a haboob that turned the truck into a beige opinion and the sky into a blender. If “computational photography” can save my porch furniture documentation for insurance, I’m listening.

The good: Night Sight turned the Legion Hall parking lot into something legible after the catfish fry. Magic Eraser removed a photobombing tumbleweed with one tap and zero ethics review. Skin tones stayed human in harsh sidelight — important when your subject is Mayor Tortoise and she will notice.

The sandy truth: Lens cloth became a lifestyle. USB-C port collected grit like a souvenir; blast with air before you blame the cable. Zoom past 5× still looks like a watercolor if you breathe wrong.

Verdict: Best camera phone I’ve abused in this county. Buy if you document food, weather, or civic ceremonies; skip if you already carry a real camera and enjoy suffering.
