Lady Quail Reach State Softball Semifinal; Jordan Jackrabbit Delivers Again

CASA GRANDE SOFTBALL COMPLEX— Six weeks after their moonlight extra-innings classic against Basin Scorpions, Quail Hollow’s Lady Quail rode Jordan Jackrabbit’s bat into the state semifinal with a 4–2 win over Mesquite Prep that felt polite until the sixth, then refused to stay that way.

Jordan’s two-run double in the seventh echoed her ninth-inning bomb from February—the junior high trumpet section, present again as loyal supporters, remained unharmed and miraculously in tune. Basin ace Taylor Tarantula, watching from the stands on a recruiting visit, tipped her visor at the squeeze bunt that sealed the regional final last month.

Quail Hollow’s pitcher, sophomore Lena Lizard, spun rise balls that flirted with physics and struck out eight. The dugout illuminated cell phones for a seventh-inning stretch that doubled as a weather report: no wind, no excuses, one grandmother streaming on 6% battery—heroism takes many forms.
