Ironwood Gila Monster Wrestling Wins Desert Duals; Dewclaw Falls in 152 Rematch

IRONWOOD HIGH MAT ROOM— Ten weeks after district quad drama sent Caliche and Ironwood to sudden-victory criteria—rock-paper-scissors witnessed by clergy, paperwork filed under “desert governance”—the Desert Duals finals returned both programs to the mat with hydration tables supervised and elbows legal only inside the circle.

Ironwood’s Victor Gila, who hit 152.0 on the scale twice in December, met Caliche’s Donny Dewclaw in a 152-pound rematch that needed no tiebreaker: a gritty 5–3 decision for Gila, punctuated by a third-period escape Athletic Trainer Ms. Nighthawk later called “textbook, if textbooks sweated.” Principal Bobcat thanked the universe for coffee and calibrated scales.
