Barcelona Sangria Granita Pitcher — Sunset Logic, Frozen

The Sangria Sunset in Barcelona taught me that fruit belongs in the pitcher and patience belongs in the freezer. This granita version survives desert June by arriving already cold and slightly bossy.

What you'll need

  • 1 bottle dry red wine, ½ cup orange juice, ¼ cup brandy (optional honesty)
  • ¼ cup sugar, juice of one lemon, one orange sliced thin
  • 1 cup mixed berries; mint sprigs for garnish and virtue signaling

How it comes together

  1. Dissolve sugar in wine, citrus, and brandy; add fruit; chill 2 hours.
  2. Pour into a shallow pan; freeze 3 hours, scraping with fork every 45 minutes for flaky crystals.
  3. Scoop into glasses; garnish mint. Serve with olives and a fan pointed at dignity.
